Timeline

The timeline of the one week debating summer program

Day 1
Overview

The session will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST)
Rohan Battula will give a lecture on the Fundamentals of Debating and Argumentation. This will be followed by an opportunity for participants to engage in a competitive debate with one another. Individual feedback and an overview of the debate will be given by instructors immediately after the debate.

Day 2
Overview

The session will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST)
Maxwell DeLorenzo will give a lecture on the Use of Style to strengthen a speech. This will be followed by an opportunity for participants to engage in a competitive debate with one another. Individual feedback and an overview of the debate will be given by instructors immediately after the debate.

Day 3
Overview

The session will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST)
Aarit Bhattacharya will give a lecture on the Importance of Strategy in winning a debate. This will be followed by an opportunity for participants to engage in a competitive debate with one another. Individual feedback and an overview of the debate will be given by instructors immediately after the debate.

Day 4
Overview

The session will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST)
Hasit Nanda will give a lecture on the Use of Principled Argumentation in Debates. This will be followed by Day 1 of a mini-tournament which will allow participants to practice the skills they’ve learnt over the course. Individual feedback and an overview of the debate will be given by instructors immediately after the debate.

Day 5
Overview

The session will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST)
Day 2 of the tournament will continue and participants will be able to further develop their competitive debate experience.
